If only there was some way of confirming the date an image of Earth was taken. If only....

He also claims it was taken by Collins, but all the evidence points to it being either Aldrin or Armstrong as they were checking out cameras in the LM before separation.

The original post disappeared eventually (the admins said, when queried about whole posts going, that they didn't like things that made them look stupid).

Fear not though, he's back!

This time he's stating that a photo 'NASA claims' was taken at 4:06pm EDT was actually taken at 8:06pm EDT. He's right about the actual time, but I've no idea where he gets the original one he claims NASA says. He also claims it was taken after LM separation and just before landing (neither is true). No money on offer yet though.

He doesn't just have problems understanding time zones, he also has difficulty with 12 hour vs 24 hour representations. One minute he's using AM/PM and the next 24 hour format, not to mention the lovely "0:600pm" which shows he didn't properly proof-read his nonsense before posting.

Anymore these days when some conspiracy theorist offers an attractive sum of money to be proven wrong, I rewrite that in my head to say, "I'm stupid and broke."

He really is the gift that keeps on giving, and he's determined to get rid of £10k:

Edited to add: that post disappeared quickly, wonder why... ;D

Wow! I didn't realise that the "10pm" entry above the Eastern Australian time zone on maps when GMT is "12 noon" was such a simple pathway to that much money!

This story made me happy, especially the size of the margin:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-04/what-does-the-kansas-abortion-vote-mean-for-the-midterms/101298840

Quote
With 95 per cent of votes counted, the abortion-supporting "no" side is safely ahead 59 to 41 per cent.

The tally roughly matches the breakdown of Americans who say they oppose the US Supreme Court's recent decision to topple Roe v Wade.

Other Conspiracy Theories / Re: Alex Jones - Sandy Hook defamation trial

My five-year-old has a better sense of responsibility than he does.

He strikes me as the sort of person who believes whatever he's thinking from moment to moment, even if those thoughts contradict each other. So now he says he believes Sandy Hook happened as officially reported, but what's to say that next week he'll say he was coerced into saying that and he doesn't believe it really happened, then next time he's cornered he'll say he was tricked into saying he didn't believe it happened...

He's sort of like those cult leaders who make up stories to convince their followers, then come to believe those made up stories as real...except that where cult leaders are usually isolated from the outside world so don't get interrupted in that process, he's been interrupted in the middle of that changeover by the court proceedings. If you get what I mean.

It's worth pulling up a chair with some popcorn. The blunder is responding but the OP is sticking to his guns (and now claiming the orbital image is a composite anyway so nyer nyer nyer). His blunderness is feeling the frustration of dealing with idiot cherry picking statements, wilfully misunderstanding evidence and refusing to listen to logic. The irony is delicious.

Lots of comments keep disappearing, but it's not clear whether this is the OP backtracking or the site admins trying to keep a lid on the festering stupidity of it all.
