A new image release from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, from a very low height, with nice accompanying articles:
The resolution is given as 0.25 m/pixel. They seem to be releasing one per day, so there may be more.

Less detail.

LRO was orbiting at about 50km when the landing sites were previously imaged. Those images had a resolution of between 0.5 and 1.5 meter, depending upon LRO's actual altitude and angle to the site being imaged, as well as the sun angle, if memory serves.

Given that it's all made up, why not shop some really awesome images of close up detail? It's not like anyone can check. ;D

As pointed out in this article:

the flags have apparently survived. Or at least, survived well enough to still cast shadows.

Y'know, HBs have it made. How hard can it be to just cry 'FAKE!' to anything you don't have an answer for?

Many hoaxers are a bit like my grandfather; he said "fake!" several years ago, when I showed him my first cell phone. Even when he got a simple 'presentation' and demo he said it was probably a small cassette tape recorder.

I knew several old farmer types who, 40 years ago, thought the whole thing was fake.  I could pretty much overlook them - it was so far outside their experience they had no comprehension of how difficult a hoax would be.

Along the lines of Charlie Duke's question in In the Shadow of the Moon:
Quote
We've been to the Moon nine times. Why would we fake it nine times, if we faked it?
I would have to ask the exact same thing about the LRO images. Why fake so many when every one would increase the risk of detection?
