I wonder why this was returned, especially as they had to trim the abort fuel load by a pound? Why didn't they just dump it on the surface, along with the PLSS's and other stuff?

Maybe we should club together to put a bid in?  ;D

I'm guessing that a normal planned accent didn't require the same safety margin of fuel as some of the abort scenarios.

The abort scenarios had more fuel to play with - all the way down to hard landing. Because the LM would still have altitude, velocity and an extra engine with some fuel in it. On the other hand, they had extra ballast in form of consumables and equipment which would have been abandoned on the surface of the moon.

Wonder if it was attached to this:

I think a lot of things came back that probably weren't supposed to, and I don't blame them one bit.

Then what do we do with the lens, time share it? ;D

I'm just checking eBay for an adapter to mate it to my Sony a57 (minolta slr) mount.. surely there's something out there..  or maybe I could use some of that there duct tape..

Then I would use it to take pictures of the Moon, and sell the prints on eBay as the only pictures of the Moon taken on a lens that went there...

My retirement income is assured!

Or you could get yourself a Hasselblad with a digital back.
