Earliest film + sound recordings: Movietone
« on: May 22, 2020, 03:02:59 PM »
Movietone was one of the earliest ways to record sound at the same time and speed as the film.

The first camera's came out in the late 1920s and surviving recordings give us a rare glimps of that time, not just visually... but with audio.

Now, a year ago I would have pointed you all to Guy Jones, who had hundreds of movietone recordings online. He cleaned up the footage together with audio and cleaned it up at the correct speed.

Alas, his efforts were for naught...

"All the Movietone sound footage that I've spent literally months and
months of my life compiling and working with the sound and footage to
look as nice as possible for the public is now being removed by the
University of South Carolina.  All these copyright strikes may very well
spell the end of the guy jones time machine.  Hopefully these precious
memories from history will find a new remastered life somewhere soon.
Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed my channel through the years´╗┐"

"Update: The University of South Carolina responded and really didn't appreciate my plea and only cares about the copyrights.  Download any videos you enjoy now because they will all be gone very soon.  Interviews with elderly (In the 1930s), historic city footages, any uploads that feature real sound, all gone.  Very sad day for me, and sad that people won't be able to easily find this stuff anymore.  Sorry everyone, I tried´╗┐."

This makes me very angry.

Thankfully, mirrors have been brought up.
If you like these, download them before they are gone too.
