« on: December 12, 2018, 08:29:25 AM »
For those of you in, or interested in coming to, Canberra in July 2019:

https://apollo11anniversary.jsaxon.org/

Guest of Honour will be Australian astronaut Andy Thomas, along with a bunch of events at the Honeysuckle Creek site, Questacon, the National Museum of Australia and much more.

I intend to be there.

I'd love to visit, but two trips to Australia in the last two year has depleted funds.  Have fun.

Let's hope they get the date right. Monday 21 July at 8:17:40 am NZST was the date and time Apollo 11 landed on the moon (I was listening to it live on the radio at work), so 6:17:40 am for Sydney and Canberra, and the same date but earlier times for countries west to about Oman, Iran and western Kazakhstan.

If someone was on the moon, they would celebrate the exact time of the anniversary at 20:17:40 UT on 20 July 2019 and if everyone on Earth did it at the same time, we'd all be in synch but at different local time and in some cases different date, exactly as happened back in 1969.
