Being aware of a random correlation between the final lunar liftoff and my 10th birthday, I could not resist pointing out that no one has visited the moon anymore since exactly 40 years.
On the same day, 10 years earlier, ‘Mariner 2’ passed venus as 'the first robotic space probe to conduct a successful planetary encounter' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariner_2). It is still amazing how much has happened in that decade between those two events. Cheers!
