NEW GAME! "Hoaxland"
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:22:44 PM »
If all HBs lived on some isolated island in the middle of the Pacific, what would it be like?  Here is what we have so far:

1. Shadows are always be perfectly parallel, no matter the terrain.
2. Stars would be visible all the time, even during the day.
3. Any radioactivity, at any level, is always deadly.

.....?

Everyone would give totally 100% objective accounts of every experience.

All problems would be solved by common sense.

The whole of hoaxland could be fake, but no-one's really sure...

There would be no accidents in Hoaxland and no one would die from natural causes. All deaths would be the result of some sort of nefarious plan.

I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth.

In Hoaxland you always believe the opposite of what anyone says.

Education is not provided, because no-one needs it and anyone who has it is obviously brainwashed.

There are no "laws" of physics or mathematics - anything that happens is the result of whatever "makes sense" to the people around at the time.

Radiative heating would instantly bring objects to the temperature of the radiating surface. Campfires would be quite lethal.

Any public appearance you make would be scrutinized by "common-sense psychologists" who would have only two possible categories for you: "Liar who ought to be arrested immediately" and "Liar who is under duress to conform".

In Hoaxland, the longer you work in a given field, the more expertise you accrue, and the more books you write or TV appearances you give means that in reality you are completely and utterly incompentent in that profession.

In hoaxland, although no-one would ever confirm this with any evidence whatsoever, you would always admit your lifelong held secrets to "truth seekers" only on your deathbed.

It's up to you, of course, but if you include the phrase "In hoaxland" in the post as some of the others did, then it would be obvious to someone scanning the link that shows the ten most recent posts, that your post is part of a game, and you haven't suddenly gone round the twist.

In Hoaxland, the only circumstanstial evidence admissible in court is "who had the most to gain?"

In Hoaxland, the truth can be stated in brief sound bites, but lies and distortions must be painstakingly explained in endless detail.

In Hoaxland, the first news reports out of a confused and developing event are the truth, but anything reconsidered and corrected afterwards is a cover-up.

Richard Hoagland is lauded in Hoaxland because when viewing aerial photos of its domain, he sees only evidence of terrestrial intelligence.
